The scheme provides for presentation of awards once in two years to one primary level cooperative society in each State/UT. Under the award, the selected societies are presented with an amount of Rs.50, 000/- as cash and a certificate of recognition/citation. Selection of the societies for the award is made in two stages. In the first stage, State Level Selection Committee constituted for the purpose with the Regional Director, NCDC in the respective State, as convener. To encourage the units to perform efficiently with a healthy competitive spirit. Government of India in collaboration with National Productivity Council have instituted National Productivity Awards since 1982-83. Keeping in view that an effective nation-wide award scheme provides a basis for every organisation to periodically assess the progress towards improvement, the awards provide stimuli for quality and productivity improvement in Indian industries and agriculture. Presently following sub-sectors are considered for award. Best Productivity Award is given in the form of a silver cup along with a citation. Second Best Productivity Award is given in the form of a silver salver along with a citation. A certificate of Merit is given to those units which have shown good performance for sustained productivity effort. |
